While the Pasadena and Altadena populations have a higher amount of income per capita than Los Angeles County itself, Altadena public schools and Pasadena independent schools suffer from a divestment in public school education, brought about by White Flight after court mandated bussing to private schools and the recent pressure of fiscal externalities added by the rapid growth of charter schools.
